Individual Counseling

Who you are today doesn't have to define you for tomorrow. You don't have to feel stuck or helpless anymore."
At some point in our lives, we all go through challenges that leave us feeling stuck.  Whether you're a parent concerned for your child, or someone going through a difficult time, receiving support from someone outside of yourself can be the difference in turning your personal goals into realities.

I work with children, adults and families on various issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, behavioral issues with children, trauma, parenting, life transitions, grief, perfectionism, people pleasing behavior and obsessive compulsive tendencies.  I believe that long-lasting change is more than just providing someone with tools of how to address their problems.  Although that is an essential part of therapy, I believe long-lasting change occurs when we understand the reason behind our problems and why we choose to react the way that we do.  That involves understanding the narratives we have chosen for ourselves, as well as the narratives we may have falsely accepted from others.  When we grow in awareness of the intricacies of our own story, we can gain insights of the very things that are causing us distress.  And although we live in an age of information where we can access a wealth of information, unfortunately, it could never replace the need for relationship.  It has been shown that most effective learning comes in the context of a safe relationship.
"Sometimes an outside perspective can lead to a clearer perspective. So don't just focus on your own perspective for it can give you blind spots."
Evidence based research shows that the relationship between a client and therapist is one of the most important indicators for "effective" therapy.   That is the reason I offer a free consult; it is a time for you to get to know me and what a potential therapeutic relationship would look like.

You should know that I incorporate various evidence based modalities based upon your needs.  I keep up with up-to-date research and try to cater clients with creativity and practicality.
