Reduced-Fee Counseling and Short-Term Scholarships in Plano, TX

Counseling at Cornerstone's Care Fund: Financial circumstances should not automatically prevent someone from receiving meaningful counseling support. Through the generosity of our donors and the commitment of Counseling at Cornerstone, our Care Fund provides limited reduced-fee counseling and short-term scholarships to qualifying individuals.

What Assistance Is Available? Depending on financial need and available funding, assistance may include:
  • A temporarily reduced counseling fee
  • A short-term scholarship covering the full session fee
  • Up to 3 session counseling scholarship to help someone begin or continue care during a period of hardship
  • Extended assistance of up to six total sessions in circumstances of exceptional need
All awards are time-limited. Assistance is based on available funding, clinical appropriateness, therapist availability, and completion of the Care Fund application.

Who May Apply? Current and prospective clients may apply when counseling costs, insurance deductibles, copays, lack of coverage, or significant financial circumstances would prevent or interrupt care.
Each request is evaluated individually. Receiving assistance does not guarantee a particular therapist, appointment time, session frequency, or length of treatment.

How Is Eligibility Determined?Applicants may be asked to provide information about:
  • Household size
  • Household income
  • Insurance coverage and counseling costs
  • Necessary monthly expenses
  • Available financial resources
  • Significant or unexpected financial hardship
  • The amount they can reasonably contribute toward each session

Reasonable supporting documentation may also be requested. All financial information is reviewed confidentially and used only to determine and administer Care Fund assistance.

How Long Does Assistance Last? Care Fund assistance is intended to provide short-term support.
  • Full scholarships generally begin with two sessions.
  • Reduced-fee awards may cover up to six sessions.
  • An extended scholarship may provide up to six total sessions when exceptional need is documented and approved.
  • Awards generally expire after 90 days or when the approved sessions have been used.
  • Assistance is not automatically renewed.

Before an award ends, we will work with the client to discuss available next steps, which may include returning to the regular fee, continuing at another reduced rate, adjusting session frequency, using insurance benefits, or receiving outside referrals.

How Do I Apply? To request a Care Fund application, email [email protected] with the subject title: “Care Fund” Please do not include detailed financial information or attach financial documents to the initial contact form.

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Decisions are based on documented financial need, available Care Fund resources, clinical appropriateness, and therapist availability.
